✏️ The ball is in your court. 輪到（某人）作出反應（或採取行動）
這個片語可不是說球跑到法院，court其實也有「球場」的意思，比如網球場就是tennis court，所以The ball is in your court. 字面上的意思是說「現在球在你那邊的場地上了。」，意思就是輪到你採取行動的意思。
We’ve made him an offer, but now he has to decide whether to accept: the ball is in his court.
我們已經決定要雇用他，不過還得看他願不願意接受這個工作機會，決定權在於他。
✏️ take it up a notch 更上一層樓
notch這個名詞有等級、檔次的意思，take sth. up a notch就是指更上一層樓，特別是指工作能力進步。
Henry has taken his teaching skills up a notch.
亨利的教學能力又更上一層樓。
✏️ Let’s hit the ground running. 馬上就做成功
這個片語原本是形容跳傘的人一落地馬不停蹄地往前跑，一直向前衝，用來比喻一接到新任務、新工作，就非常有幹勁地執行的意思。
She always leads the team to hit the ground running.
她總是很有幹勁地帶領團隊完成工作。
✏️ I have a lot on my plate. 身上事情繁重
plate是吃飯用的盤子、碟子，在此引申爲工作量的意思，盤子裡有很多東西意思就是工作繁重，有很多事情要處裡。
I have a lot on my plate now. You must call off the meeting this afternoon.
我現在分身乏術，下午的會議一定要取消。

A: Are you ready for lunch?
B: Can’t. I have a lot on my plate right now.
A: Which project are you working on?
B: I was assigned to a new team last week. My new leader really hits the ground running.
A: That’s good news, right?
