【疏忽英文】3種疏忽的用法及區別：如何正確使用neglect、ignore、omit？
當你沉迷於打電動而『忽略了』課業、網紅對於酸民的留言要『置之不理』、某些同學可以『省略』不用做哪幾道題。
以上這幾個關於『忽視』的英文大家都能區分嗎？今天我們就來徹底探討
- 如果是『不小心疏忽某事』要使用：
neglect (vt) 疏於照顧；未予看管
She denies neglecting her baby.
她不承認沒有照看好她的孩子。
The buildings had been neglected for years.
這些大樓多年來一直無人看管。
She has neglected her studies.
她忽視了自己的學習。
該字有兩個形容詞意思不同，比較如下：
- negligent 疏忽的，造成過失的
The school had been negligent in not informing the child’s parents about the incident.
校方疏忽了，沒有向這孩子的父母通報這件事。
- negligible 微不足道的，可忽略不計的
The pay that the soldiers received was negligible.
士兵拿到的軍餉少得可憐。
- 如果是『故意對某事置之不理』要使用：
ignore (vt) 對…不予理會
= disregard sth
= turn a blind eye to sth
= turn a deaf ear to sth
He ignored all the ‘No Smoking’ signs and lit up a cigarette.
他無視所有“禁止吸煙”的警示，點了香煙。
I made a suggestion but they chose to ignore it.
我提了個建議，但他們不予理會。
We cannot afford to ignore their advice.
我們不能不考慮他們的勸告。
該字的形容詞型是：
ignorant (a) （對某事物）不了解的；無知的；愚昧的；無學識的
an ignorant person/question
無知的人 / 提問
He’s ignorant about modern technology.
他對現代科技一無所知。
At that time I was ignorant of events going on elsewhere.
那時我並不瞭解其他地方發生的事情。
Never make your students feel ignorant.
千萬別讓你的學生感到自己一無所知。
- 如果是『省略某事』要用：
omit 省略，遺漏
If you are a student, you can omit questions 16–18.
學生可以免做16–18題。
People were surprised that Smith was omitted from the team.
人們感到驚訝，史密斯竟未列入該隊。
這個字常用的名詞型：
omission /əˈmɪʃn/ n. 省略；刪除；免除
Everyone was surprised at her omission from the squad.
她未列入該編組使大家感到驚訝。
The play was shortened by the omission of two scenes.
