plum rain season
梅雨，是指由冷熱空氣交鋒所形成的鋒面雨，在每年春末夏初的交際時期，出現在中國江淮地區、台灣、日本中南部、韓國南部等地區，由於發生的時期正好是江南梅子的成熟期，所以稱做「梅雨」，因此英文就是plum rain，梅雨季也就是plum rain season。
- Taiwan is about to enter the plum rain season this weekend with heavy downpours across the country.
台灣於本週末將進入梅雨季，全國各地將有豐沛的雨量。
stationary front
stationary做形容詞時，有「停滯的、靜止的」意思，front除了可做形容詞，也可做名詞用，在氣象學中指的是「鋒面」，冷鋒、暖鋒分別是cold front和warm front，而stationary front則是滯留鋒面。另外要注意的是，和stationary十分相似的單字是stationery，不可數名詞，泛指書寫時所需的文具，大家別把這兩個單字搞混囉！
- A low pressure system with two stationary fronts will come into the region tomorrow resulting in an increase in cloud cover
伴隨著兩個滯留鋒面的低氣壓系統將於明天進入該地區，導致雲量增加。
precipitation
precipitation可指「降雨」或「降雪」，不可數名詞。
- Hail is one type of precipitation.
冰雹是一種降水的形式。
梅雨季所帶來的降雨有時候來的又急又大，短時間內的強降雨量造成一些災害，例如水災（flood）、坍方（landslide）、土石流（mudslide）等，大家得特別小心。接下來，要向大家介紹幾個和rain相關的俚語。
(as) right as rain
通常是指某人身體恢復健康，也可描述東西或流程運作順暢，或是指正確的想法。
- I had a headache last night and Itook some medicine before going to bed. Now I am as right as rain.
昨晚我頭痛，睡覺前我吃了一些藥。現在，我完全沒事了。
rain on one’s parade
這裡的rain做動詞「下雨」用，在遊行時下起雨來一定很掃興吧，因此這個俚語意指「潑某人冷水、使掃興」的意思。
- I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but it will certainly rain tomorrow. So, you might want to reconsider your plan of having a picnic at the park.
我不想潑你冷水，但是明天肯定會下雨，你也許要重新考慮在公園野餐的計畫。
save something for a rainy day
這裡通常是指把錢存下來，以備未來不時之需，意思類似中文的「有備無患、未雨綢繆」，動詞save可用keep、put away、put aside來替換。
- Mary saves a portion of her salary every month for a rainy day.
瑪莉每個月都儲蓄一部分的薪水以備不時之需。
not know enough to come in out of the rain
字面上的意思是不知道下雨時要躲進屋裡，也就是沒有足夠的常識選擇出一個明顯的解決方案，這句俚語通常是使用否定語氣，意指「很愚蠢」。
- It comes as no surprise that Jason’s latest business failed. He doesn’t know enough to come in out of the rain in terms of running a business.
傑森最近生意失敗一點也不足為奇，在做生意上，他真是愚蠢到家了。
