你用對了嗎？破解 another、other、the other、the others 的英文陷阱！

看到 another、other、the other、the others，是不是常搞不清楚？這幾個字長得像，意思卻不太一樣。別擔心，這裡用簡單口訣＋蛋糕例子一次解開你的疑惑！

� 口訣速記：

� another：不特定、單一個
� other：不特定、一群人／東西
� the other：特定，剩下的一個或幾個
� the others：特定，剩下的全部（當代名詞用）

another = 另一個（單數，不特定）

� 口訣：「還想要一個，不管哪個！」

� 用來指某一類中的「另一個」，但不是特定哪一個。只能修飾單數可數名詞，也可以單獨當代名詞使用。

例句：

• I want anotherpiece of cake.
  我想再吃一塊蛋糕。
• This cake is delicious. Can I have another?
  這塊蛋糕很好吃。我可以再來一塊嗎？

other = 其他的（通常為複數，不特定）

� 口訣：「其他的，不指定。」

� 指一群「不特定的其他人或事物」，常接複數名詞。有時也可以搭配 any、some 接單數或不可數名詞。

例句：

• Do you have othercakes to try?
  你有其他蛋糕可以讓我試試嗎？
• Do you have any otherflavor of cake?
  你有其他口味的蛋糕嗎？
• She wants some other
  她想要一些其他的建議。

the other = 另一個或其餘的（特定）

� 口訣：「就剩下那個／那幾個了！」

� 表示已知範圍中「特定的另一個或剩下的幾個」。後面可以接單數或複數名詞。

例句（單數）：

• I have two pieces of cake. One is chocolate; the otheris vanilla.
  我有兩塊蛋糕，一塊是巧克力口味，另一塊是香草口味。

例句（複數）：

• Three pieces of cake are gone. The other piecesare still on the plate.
  三塊蛋糕吃完了，其他的還在盤子裡。

the others = 剩下的那些（代名詞）

� 口訣：「剩下的那些人／東西，全包了！」

� 當代名詞使用，是「the other + 名詞」的簡化。只能單獨使用，後面不能接名詞。

例句：

• Five pieces of cake were on the table. Two were eaten, and the otherswere saved for later.
  桌上有五塊蛋糕，兩塊被吃掉了，其他的被留著等會兒吃。
