Ennio Morricone, the renowned film composer born and raised in Italy, passed away on July 6 aged 91 due to complications after breaking his femur a few days ago.

Having dedicated himself to composition for over 60 years and with his music accentuating more than 500 films, Morricone was awarded the Academy Honorary Award in 2007 at the age of 79. Interestingly, the awardee hadn’t even planned to retire back then.
