The Pope is the leader of the Roman Catholic Church. When a Pope passes away or retires, a new one must be chosen.
教宗是羅馬天主教的領袖。當教宗過世或退休時，就要選出新教宗。

He also chooses a new name to use during his time as Pope. This tradition shows respect for past leaders and signals a new beginning for the Church.
