The Waseda International House of Literature, also known as the Murakami Library, is expected to open in the fall of this year.

The library was named after the Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, who graduated from Waseda University in 1975.
該圖書館以1975年畢業於該校的日本小說家村上春樹為名。

However, Murakami studied drama instead of literature at that time, and he did not write his first novel, “Hear the Wind Sing,” until the age of 29 when he was long gone from Waseda.

It is reported that the Murakami library will house Murakami’s personal archive, ranging from manuscript and interview articles to records which he has donated to the school, as well as a collection of his works translated into several languages.

Designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the library was a renovation of Building No.4 on the campus.
