According to a recent report, the Yulon Group is considering whether to sell off Haitec, one of its subsidiary firms dedicated to developing electric cars. This would be done as part of a bid to shake up the conglomerate.
近期的報導指出，裕隆集團近期面臨企業改組，考慮將旗下電動車公司華創車電賣出。

In fact, Yulon posted losses of NT$937.26 million in the first two quarters of 2019, compared with net profits of NT$1.38 billion year-over-year.

That amounts to losses of NT$0.62 per share in the first half, whereas earnings per share stood at NT$0.94 in the same period last year. To check the decline in profits, the group even diversified into manufacturing motorcycles for Italy’s ADVIA in June.

Meanwhile, Foxconn has always been interested in the automobile industry. In 2005, it acquired the local automotive electronics maker AnTec Electric System Co., Ltd., before eventually investing in Haitec.

In 2012, one of its subsidiaries, Innolux, became the world’s second-largest supplier of automotive panels. The buyout of Haitec would be done to facilitate Foxconn’s further entry into this market segment, judging from its R&D capabilities.

Analysts believe that Foxconn and Yulon would both benefit significantly if the Haitec deal were finalized. The former would have a more successful foray into auto manufacturing, while the latter would no longer have to fill the ever-widening maw of Haitec.
