Rikki Poynter, who is a deaf YouTuber, said on her channel that the feature not only allows deaf and hard-of-hearing people to watch videos with subtitles, but also helps the creators who cannot afford the expenses of hiring a translator.

Regarding the above-mentioned difficulties, YouTube said it will cover a six-month subscription of subtitling service as compensation for the creators who have used the feature for at least 3 videos over the last 60 days.
