專訪下一代幸福聯盟
In April, the Central Election Commission approved a referendum proposed by the “Happiness of the Next Generation Alliance”.
中選會在四月通過了由「下一代幸福聯盟」所提出的公投法案，

“Do you agree with using means other than the marriage regulations in the Civil Code to protect the rights of two people of the same gender to build a permanent life together?”

The referendum has pushed the question of same-sex marriage back into the spotlight, and has sparked a heated public debate about the marriage and family values highlighted by the Happiness of the Next Generation Alliance. The referendum they proposed is very likely to be held along with the nine-in-one elections by the end of this year.
於是同婚議題再度浮上檯面，引發各界熱議，最重要的是他們所標舉的婚姻與家庭價值，極有可能成為年底九合一選舉中，人民將檢視與定奪的那張選票。

Tseng Hsien-ying, President of the Happiness of the Next Generation Alliance, in recalling last year’s constitutional ruling in favor of same-sex marriage, has stated: “My feelings went from astonishment to fury. How could such a small body of judges make such an important decision? Without any consideration for public opinion, the judicial body has perverted the legislature and even the administrative power — that is not right!”
幸福盟理事長曾獻瑩回憶，去年一看到台灣同性婚姻的釋憲案，「心情從訝異轉為氣憤，難道司法是由少數人決定？沒有民意基礎，司法侵犯立法，甚至是行政權，這是不對的！」

Not only does Mr. Tseng emphasize that the institution of marriage should be decided by all members of the public, but he also rejects accusations that his movement is homophobic.

“Saying no to same-sex marriage is not tantamount to discriminating against or looking down on the gay community. We need a rational look at a public policy to replace the usual smear campaign between the DPP and the KMT. It’s a much better way to do things.”
他說:「不接受同婚並不等於歧視或瞧不起同志族群，只有彼此能理性探討公共政策，取代藍綠惡鬥下慣常的攻擊抹黑，才是比較好的做法。」

Despite changing international attitudes towards same-sex marriage, Tseng still believes that it is not a mainstream issue.

He argues that Taiwanese people have both sovereignty and wisdom to make their own decisions. “Why should they follow other countries’ example?”

As he sees it, Taiwan should look at what is fundamental to marriage and family, from initiatives to protections that a legal union provides, because after all, they are a cornerstone of national stability.

Many have argued that allowing gay people to get married will allow them to find happiness, but Tseng disagrees. “The current marriage system doesn’t guarantee lifelong happiness. Maybe the key is to find other ways to make our lives happier,” he tells me.
如果同性戀者覺得結婚才算達成人生理想呢？曾獻瑩說：「現行結婚制度下也不能保證一輩子的幸福，或許重點該擺在如何讓自己的人生過得更快樂。」

Avoiding being labeled as hypocritical, apathetic and religious, the Happiness of the Next Generation Alliance has made their definition of “happiness” clear: the only “happiness” they care about protecting is the happiness of their own future generations.
拋開鄉愿、無感或是宗教信仰標籤，下一代聯盟對於幸福的定義則再清楚不過：他們唯一想守護的，即是他們下一代的幸福。
