The Supreme Court ruled on November 6 that the former chairman of Ting Hsin Group, Wei Ying-chung, will serve five years and nine months in prison for his involvement in 2014’s “cooking oil-gate.”

The court partially dismissed Wei’s appeal of an April ruling by the Taichung branch of the High Court.

Following the Supreme Court’s verdict, Prosecutor Yeh Chien-cheng of the Changhua District Prosecutors’ Office took the necessary measures to prevent Wei from fleeing the country.
