More than 350 news organizations from around the United States have come together to fight for their reputation, after Donald Trump called them the “enemy of the people.”

This has been condemned by experts at the United Nations, who say that it could cause violence against journalists.

Newspapers around the country had similar feelings. In St. Louis the Post-Dispach said that the president “degrades the importance of the work we all do,” while the San Jose Mercury News said that journalism makes a country stronger – “our nation is stronger if its people are informed.”

However, some thought that the articles would not be enough to convince Trump’s supporters that he was lying.

“The people who read these articles don’t need to be convinced,” said Ken Paulson, a former editor for USA Today, “They are not the ones trying to shout you down at presidential rallies.”
