Starting November 2, 2025, Taiwan opened 13 urgent care centers in six major cities, including Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung.
自2025年11月2日起，台灣在六大城市開設了13個急診輕症中心（UCC），包括台北、新北、桃園、台中、台南和高雄。

These UCCs offer services from 8 a.m. to midnight on Sundays and national holidays.

UCCs mainly treat patients with minor conditions, such as fever, respiratory symptoms, gastrointestinal problems, minor injuries, or acute pediatric issues.

During the first eight hours of operation, 169 patients visited the centers.

Most cases were minor, and only three patients needed to be sent to hospitals.

Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chung-liang explained that around 80% of emergency room visitors do not need urgent hospital care and can be treated safely at UCCs.

Visiting a UCC is also cheaper. The registration fee is NT$150, saving patients up to NT$600 compared with emergency room fees at large hospitals.
