United Microelectronics Corporation, Taiwan’s second-largest contract chipmaker and the fourth-largest globally, has reached a major milestone with its Fab 12A in Tainan becoming the first semiconductor foundry in the world to be inducted into the World Economic Forum’ Global Lighthouse Network.
