US President Donald Trump executed an astonishing 180 degree turn after he drew a barrage of criticism from both Democrats and Republicans for his poor performance at a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, the president said that he now “accepts” the intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia interfered in the US presidential election — the opposite of what he said in Helsinki — and claimed he had misspoken during the summit.
