The state-funded subsidy program for domestic travel during fall and winter has seen a favorable reception in the tourism industry, according to Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau.

What’s more, independent tourists staying at participating hotels are entitled to an NT$1,000 voucher for accommodation and four NT$50 coupons per room, redeemable at night markets registered with the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

With the measures in place, the program has boosted the tourism sector. A hefty NT$980 million has been paid out in subsidies on 980,000 rooms. A record 7,766 accommodation providers have benefited as a result.
