Toshiba Corp. is planning to cut around 7,000 jobs globally over the next five years, Chairman and CEO Nobuaki Kurumatani announced at a press conference in Tokyo on Thursday.

Toshiba said most of the cutbacks will come through “natural attrition”, but the company may offer its employees the opportunity to have an early retirement.
