John and George are colleagues. John is asking George for some advice.
advice(n.)
John: Hey, can I ask you something?
George: Sure! What is it?
John: I feel like I can’t get things done on time recently. Do you have any time management tips that I can follow?
get things done完成事情on time準時recently(adv.)最近time management時間管理follow(v.)
George: Hmm…maybe you can try the Pomodoro Technique. It’s recommended by Audrey Tang, our digital minister.
recommend(v.)
John: What’s that?
George: To put it simply, you can divide your time into several 25-minute periods. In each period, you focus on one task only. After that, you have 5 minutes to do other things. Take a short break, for instance.
to put it simply簡單的說divide(v.)分配period(n.)期間、一段時間、逗號task(n.)任務take a break休息一下for instance=for example比方說
John: I guess that would work for me because I have a very short attention span; I can only concentrate for 20 minutes or so at one time. But 5 minutes of break may be too short for me.
attention span注意力concentrate(v.)
George: Don’t worry. That one period is called a pomodoro. After 4 pomodoros, you can take a longer break for maybe 20 to 30 minutes.
John: In that case, my brain could rest and absorb the information before the next round.
brain(v.)腦袋rest(v.)休息absorb(v.)吸收information(n.)
George: Exactly! You’re a smart guy!
