The Dean of the Faculty of Political Science at Ubon Ratchathani University Titipol Phakdeewanich said that Anchan’s verdict could be “politically motivated” to ward off pro-democracy protesters, but such a harsh sentence could backfire and “destroy the reputation of the institution of the monarchy domestically and internationally.”
