Taiwan’s passport has been ranked 72nd out of 199 countries on the Nomad Passport Index of the world’s best passports for 2023.

The annual list made by American consulting firm Nomad Capitalist evaluates passports based on five factors, each accounting for a different percentage of the final passport score.

The ability to travel without a visa accounts for 50% of the score, followed by the amount of tax paid by citizens, which makes up 20%.

The biggest surprise on the current list is the United Arab Emirates (UAE) taking first place with a score of 110.50.
