女性多工作52天
The Ministry of Labor (MOL) designated February 21 as Taiwan’s Equal Pay Day this year, which signified that women needed to work an additional 52 days in order to earn the same salary that men did last year.
勞動部訂定2月21日為台灣的同酬日，代表2019年女性必須額外工作52天才能夠賺取到與男性相同的薪資。

Citing data released by the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, the ministry said the average hourly wage for female employees in 2019 was NT$292, compared with NT$340 for their male counterparts.

Over the past decade, the average hourly wage gap in the country has decreased from 17.9 percent in 2009 to 14.2 percent in 2018, which translates to a reduction from 66 to 52 extra work days for women to achieve the same pay level as men, according to the MOL.

The ministry pointed out that Taiwan’s gender pay gap has been smaller than those of the United States, Japan, and South Korea over the years.
