Later, in an effort to mollify angry Chinese internet users, Yi Fang Fruit Tea issued a statement declaring that “Hong Kong is an inseparable part of the People’s Republic of China.” But the same statement has enraged Taiwanese netizens, who have called for a boycott of the tea brand.
