Starting in January 2026, Taiwan will introduce new driver’s license rules in stages to improve road safety.

The Directorate General of Highways announced 17 reform measures, including replacing true-or-false test questions with multiple-choice ones for both car and scooter exams.
公路總局宣布了17項改革措施，其中包括將汽、機車筆試的「是非題」改為「選擇題」。

Drivers aged 70 and above will need a medical check by a doctor and must take free safety courses before renewing their licenses.

Those over 70 who decide to surrender their licenses will receive TPASS transportation discounts, such as cheaper taxi rides.
若70歲以上駕駛主動繳回駕照，將可獲得TPASS交通優惠，例如計程車折扣。

Other changes include road tests for scooters, extra training for repeat offenders, and longer road test routes for car drivers.
