Taiwan’s Ministry of Education recently announced plans to hire 1,600 new special education teaching assistants over the next four years.

The government will invest NT$1 billion to hire 400 teachers per year for four years as a means to “help special education students who need extra care in the regular classroom.”

Beyond these measures, the National Federation of Teachers’ Union has also called for establishing security staff at schools to further ensure safety and decrease the response time to violent incidents.
