Love them or hate them, everyone is talking about Apple’s new iPhones. Since they were announced last week, people have been rushing to buy the new XS, XS Max and XR models, even though they cost more than NT$30,000.

Last week someone did just that. A Taiwanese IT engineer, Chang Chi-yuan, managed to buy 502 brand new Apple iPhones for NT$1 by using a loophole that he found on Apple Pay.
上週有人就這麼做了！一位台灣的IT工程師張啟元，設法使用他在Apple Pay發現的漏洞，以一塊錢買了502台全新的iPhone！

Screenshots on Chang’s Facebook page show that he managed to buy 500 iPhone 8 Pluses as well as two iPhone XS Maxes.

Together the purchase would normally be worth NT$15,655,800. Chang said that he was merely testing a bug in the Apple Pay system and that he has since cancelled the order.

The discount purchase drew a lot of attention on social media, but some users didn’t believe that Chang had successfully bought the iPhones.

“Stop dreaming already” wrote one commenter, who added that Apple probably wouldn’t process his order until the full payment of NT$15,655,800 had been received.

This isn’t the first time that Chang, a well-known hacker, has managed to trick Apple. In 2016 he managed to buy an iPhone SE for well below its real value by using a similar loophole.
