Wang Yao-ting, the president of Taiwan Power Co., or Taipower, announced on Monday, April 22 that he would stay on in his role despite offering to resign several days earlier.
台灣電力公司（台電）總經理王耀庭於4月22日星期一宣布，儘管幾天前曾提出辭呈，但他將繼續擔任該職務。

Wang also said that he will let Lai Ching-te’s administration decide whether he should continue to act as Taipower’s president in the future.

Wang initially submitted his letter of resignation on April 20 as a response to the power outages and other electricity supply issues experienced in Taoyuan and elsewhere in the country earlier in the week.

However, after making this announcement, Wang was persuaded by others not to step down as Taipower president.

Among those that encouraged him to stay on were government officials, including Premier Chen Chien-jen and Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua, as well as Taipower’s board of directors and Taipower Union president Wu Yu-pin.
