9人死亡，30人受傷
Nine people were killed and 30 were injured after a fire broke out in a New Taipei hospital early Monday morning on August 13.

The incident occurred at around 4:30am in room 7A23 of the hospice section at Taipei’s Xinzhuang District hospital, where seriously ill patients were staying.

Officials believe that the fire started because of a problem with an electric bed.

By the time that firefighters arrived, there was smoke coming out of the seventh floor of the hospital, where there were 32 patients and 11 members of staff.

Officials say that two reasons behind the tragedy were the hospice mattresses caught fire easily and that the door to the room where the fire started was left open.

The fire is currently being investigated, but officials say that there were enough staff in the hospital to deal with the fire properly.
