South Korea is experiencing a decline in the number of babies being born.

The country’s total birth rate — the average number of children born for every 1,000 people in the population — fell to a record low of 0.78 last year, with less than 250,000 newborns.

To help solve this problem, the government has suggested three plans that aim to increase the birth rate.

Finally, the government may introduce a parental leave system that would give both spouses a total of 480 days of leave, with men being required to take at least 90 of those days.
