North and South Korea will hold a summit for the first time in more than a decade in late April, the South’s presidential office said after a delegation returned from a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The summit will be held in the demilitarized zone that divides the two Koreas and the two leaders would open a communication hotline, the head of the delegation, South Korea’s national security chief Chung Eui-yong told a media briefing.

“Kim Jong Un is hoping to extract a loosening of sanctions or other assistance by feigning a willingness to disarm,” said Miha Hribernik, senior Asia analyst at global risk consultancy Verisk Maplecroft.
