There is constant laughter and lively performances at the “Stone Soup Project,” currently located in the foothills of the Songshan community. Mothers and housewives wear bright, eye-catching dresses, with meticulously matching floral headscarves and bright earrings as they head to the “Silver Hair Fashion Class.”

During this two-hour class, these older students at times pay close attention to what is being taught, and other times they just laugh and joke with one another. In the end, they leave the classroom not only looking more beautiful, but feeling more beautiful and carefree on the inside as well.

Zhong Zhi-xin, the director of the Songshan “Stone Soup Project” says that the “Silver Hair Lifestyle Courses,” are held twice a week and cover a rich variety of topics and activities. Offering a wide range of subjects from physical fitness and the “Life”cafe to fashion and board games, these workshops are all about getting the elders in our community out and about, moving and actively engaging with others.

Along with these workshops and classes, the “Stone Soup Project” also provides family caregiver support and invites psychological counselors who offer their expertise and services.

As the Senior Care 2.0 Policy still has some loopholes and insufficiencies, the “Stone Soup Project” serves as a platform for the senior care community service providers. It provides medical care integration planning, a case management service, and skills training and guidance with regards to senior care. It is a comprehensive, all-around service.
補足長照2.0政策尚有缺漏之處，石頭湯作為社區整合窗口，受理長照服務申請、醫療照顧整合規劃、個案管理服務，以及照顧技巧指導，可謂是包山包海的統合服務。

Zhong Zhi-xin points out that there are currently about 30 senior citizens utilizing the “Stone Soup Plan,” which enables them to become self-sufficient in a period from 3-6 months. At present, the project’s largest obstacle, with regards to expanding its client base, has been family members not being able to fully comprehend the usefulness of the service. “Family members often feel that they can take care of everything themselves. They don’t think senior citizens should be taken care of by society or outside groups,” Zhong Zhi-xin said in a slightly exasperated tone.
鍾智馨指出目前約有30名長者（3至6個月可復能）使用石頭湯計畫，目前計畫推廣遇到最大的阻礙來自長者家人的不理解，「家屬往往覺得自己就能照顧，不需要由社會或其他外力介入。」鍾智馨無奈地說。

The “Stone Soup Project” has been in operation for nearly two years. It began operating out of four districts in Taipei and has since opened services in 12 districts. “The Songshan Community Service Center is a supportive place for the elderly, a place where they can always stop by whenever they please,” Zhong Zhi-xin says.
石頭湯計畫推行近兩年，從最初台北四個行政區試辦，到目前已擴大十二個行政區皆有開辦，「松山社區服務中心提供人的服務，是一個支持老人的安心所在，他們隨時都可以走進來。」鍾智馨說。

In the future, the team will focus on the recruitment of volunteers, as well as preventive long-term care and launching its own baseball team. In the same way a great soup needs time to simmer and allow its flavor to take shape, Songshan’s “Stone Soup Project” has been slowly developing and refining its excellent service over time.

Since its implementation in 2017, the Songshan “Stone Soup Project” has been commissioned by the Taipei Municipal Social Affairs Bureau to service the local elderly population in the Songshan (Fuli) District.

The name “Stone Soup” originates from an ancient story, describing a pot of very good soup that requires a variety of excellent ingredients which are cooked together. The “Stone Soup Project” senior care service is a metaphor in that it is an integration of resources and collaborative efforts across various professions. Not only that, this “very good soup” can be delivered to every senior citizen’s home.
