Lee said what sets the eyewear apart from other wearable ocular tonometers is that it retains the features of regular lenses, which is “crucial to the success of translating the smart soft contact lenses into glaucoma care.”

Associate Dean from the Indiana University School of Optometry Dr. Pete Kollbaum, who has worked with Lee since 2019, believes that the technology does not only provide crisp vision, just as any contact lens would, but also expand the benefits for both patients and eye specialists, who have wanted less expensive and more comfortable ways to monitor eye changes for years.
