Patti: Hey Louis! I saw something online about an air raid drill this week. Is that happening near you?

Louis: Yeah, it is. In Hualien, we’ve got one on Friday morning — 10:00 to 10:30.
路易：有啊。在花蓮，我們這邊的演習是在禮拜五早上，十點到十點半。
Patti: That early? Most places are doing it in the afternoon, right?
佩蒂：這麼早？我以為大多數地方都是下午才演習耶？
Louis: Yup. East Taiwan gets the morning slot, I guess. I’ll probably be at home when the siren goes off.
路易：對啊，東部是安排在早上時段。警報響的時候我應該會在家。

Patti: What do you have to do during the drill?
佩蒂：那演習的時候要做什麼啊？
Louis: Just follow the instructions. If I’m inside, I stay away from windows and shut off the gas. If I’m outside, I find a shelter fast.
路易：就照指示行動啦。如果我在室內，就得遠離窗戶，關掉瓦斯。如果在外面，就趕快找避難所。

Patti: Sounds intense. Do they really fine people if they don’t follow the rules?
佩蒂：聽起來蠻緊張的欸。不配合真的會被罰錢嗎？

Louis: They can. Up to NT$150,000 if you ignore the drill. So yeah — better to take it seriously.
路易：會啊，不配合最重可以罰十五萬。所以最好還是乖乖照做。
up to…最多達到～ignore(v.)忽視、不理會take sth. seriously認真看待某事
Patti: No kidding! What if someone’s, like, riding a scooter?
佩蒂：哇賽，認真喔！那如果有人剛好在騎車咧？
What if…?如果～會怎麼樣?
Louis: You’re supposed to pull over, turn off the engine, and find shelter. Even YouBikes have to stop.
路易：要靠邊停車、熄火，然後就近找地方避難。就連騎YouBike也一樣要停。

Patti: Wow. Okay, I’ll be ready. Ours is on Thursday in Taipei. Maybe we should text each other after?
佩蒂：哇，好喔，那我也準備一下。我們台北是禮拜四。不然演習後我們互傳訊息？
