環團發起11月3日上凱道
Taiwan Healthy Air Action Alliance and the Green Consumers Foundation as well as other civil groups are planning a march on Ketagalan Boulevard in front of the Presidential Office to call for the protection of algae reef and protest the reopening of the Shen’ao coal-fired power plant.
台灣健康空氣行動聯盟、綠色消費者基金會等民間團體正計劃在總統府前凱達格蘭大道舉行遊行，呼籲保護藻礁，並抗議重啟深澳燃煤電廠計畫。

At a press conference in the Legislative Yuan, the groups announced that the demonstration will be held on November 3, twenty days before the general election.

“Civil groups have been pushed to the limit by both the Shen’ao and algae reef cases,” said Taiwan Healthy Air Action Alliance Director Yeh Guang-peng.

The government is currently studying the feasibility of building Taiwan’s third liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in the Kwun Tong Industrial Area of Taoyuan to meet growing demand for electricity.

Since last Friday, disputes over the LNG terminal have become fiercer after Premier Lai Ching-te said that if the project in Taoyuan passes environmental impact assessments and proceeds to completion, the Cabinet will consider scrapping another controversial plan to expand the coal-fired power plant in Shen’ao, in Yilan County.
