A powerful storm that swept across the Arabian Peninsula between April 13 and April 17 dropped record amounts of rainfall on the United Arab Emirates.

According to Esraa Alnaqbi of the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology, the thunderstorm was the result of an “abnormal phenomenon” of low-pressure systems and warm air close to the ground that was likely exacerbated by climate change.
