Phoebe is asking Wayne about whether she should get a debit card.
Phoebe: Do you think it is necessary for me to get a debit card? I already have an ATM card actually.
necessary(adj.)必要的
Wayne: It depends on your spending habits. To me, using a debit card is more convenient, as opposed to an ATM card, which is strictly limited to transactions at an ATM. Plus, debit cards can be used at millions of stores, online merchants and ATMs.
depend on 取決於~as opposed to 相較於~be limited to 受限於
Phoebe: That’s true. Finding an ATM can sometimes be too much of a hassle to bother with.
hassle(n.)
Wayne: Instead of running up a credit card balance, debit cards let you pay with the money you actually have in your bank account and help you prevent spending beyond your budget.
run up a debt 欠債run up a bill 積欠帳款run up expenses 欠費within budget 在預算內
Phoebe: For spendthrifts like me, it helps budgeting and managing my money wisely.

Wayne: But keep in mind that financial tools don’t come without any drawbacks. Debit cards are no exception.
drawback(n.)缺點、不利因素exception(n.)例外
Phoebe: How so?
Wayne: Debit cards generally don’t offer as many perks or have as many protections against fraud as credit cards.
perk(n.)(工作上的)福利或待遇、好處、有利條件benefit(n.)福利protection(n.)
Phoebe: How bad could it be if I don’t have the protections?
Wayne: Let’s say, if an identity thief hacks into your account and takes out your money, you would lose the money immediately and getting the money back would be tough.
