President Tsai Ing-wen on Thursday invited the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) to visit Taiwan, right after he accused the Taiwanese government of launching a racist campaign to smear and intimidate him.
日前世界衛生組織（WHO）幹事長譚德塞控訴台灣政府對他個人發起種族歧視攻擊抹黑並恐嚇他，蔡英文總統週四回應譚德塞，邀請他訪問台灣。

During a press briefing on Wednesday in Geneva where he defended himself and the UN Health Agency’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, Tedros claimed that he had been the victim of racist attacks coming from Taiwan over the last three months.
譚德塞週三在日內瓦舉行記者會，針對他自身與世衛組織對新冠疫情的應變措施進行辯護時，聲稱自己過去三個月遭到來自台灣的種族歧視攻擊。

Tedros claimed that Taiwan’s foreign ministry was aware of the attacks but did not dissociate itself. “They even started criticizing me in the middle of all that insult and slur, but I didn’t care,” he said.
譚德塞聲稱台灣外交部知道有針對他個人的種族歧視攻擊，但沒有劃清界線，他說：「他們甚至在所有侮辱和詆毀之中開始批評我，但我不在乎。」

President Tsai responded to Tedros in a Facebook post on Thursday, writing that “I strongly protest the accusations today that Taiwan is instigating racist attacks in the international community. Taiwan has always opposed all forms of discrimination.”
蔡總統周四在臉書發文回應譚德塞寫道：「對於今天台灣被指控在國際社會上發動種族歧視攻擊的言論，我要表達強烈的抗議。台灣向來反對任何形式的歧視。」

“For years, we have been excluded from international organizations and we know better than anyone else what it feels like to be discriminated against and isolated,” she continued.

Tsai then invited Tedros to visit Taiwan to “experience for himself” Taiwan’s endeavors to combat the coronavirus outbreak despite being marginalized by the WHO.

She closed by saying that “If Director-General Tedros could withstand pressure from China and come to Taiwan ... he would be able to see that the Taiwanese people are the true victims of unfair treatment,” adding that the WHO “will only truly be complete if Taiwan is included.”
蔡總統在發文結尾提到，「如果譚德塞幹事長能抵擋中國的壓力，踏上台灣的土地，就能了解到台灣對防疫的努力，並且理解真正受到不公平待遇的，其實是台灣人民，並寫道「只有台灣的加入，世界衛生組織的拼圖才會完整」。
Tedros, a former Ethiopian health and foreign minister who became the WHO’s first African leader with China’s support in 2017, has faced criticism for his handling of the the COVID-19 outbreak since January.
譚德塞是衣索比亞前衛生和外交部長，2017年在中國的支持下成為世衛組織的首位非洲裔領導人，他自1月開始就因為處置COVID-19疫情不當遭受批評。

Tedros has repeatedly backed China’s claims that it has been “open and transparent” about the COVID-19 outbreak despite strong evidence that it concealed early reports on infections and he even praised Beijing’s epidemic response.
