President Lai Ching-te noted in a local media interview on Sept. 1 that Beijing employs very different attitudes toward territory lost during China’s “century of humiliation.”

According to Lai, if Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party wanted the full “reunification” of all of China’s historical territories, it should address all land losses, not just Taiwan.
