人死後還能聽見自己的「死訊」？
傑柯跟伊娃兩人在家看電影《別闖陰陽界》。
Jack and Eva are watching the movie “Flatliners” at home.
傑柯：太酷了！妳看電影中的那些人死而復生了！

Jack: That’s so cool! Look at those people in the movie die and then come back to life!
伊娃：你相信現實生活中真的可以發生嗎？

Eva: Do you believe that can happen in real life?
傑柯：我不知道，這是個令人害怕的問題。
Jack: I’m not sure, that’s quite a scary question.

Eva: Yeah, and who can ever explain what happens after someone dies?

Jack: There’s research recently done in America that says people’s consciousness continues to work for a short amount of time after they die!
伊娃：什麼？那這樣還算死亡嗎？

傑柯：理論上，醫生會根據心臟停止的時間來定義死亡，血液循環不再對大腦的供血，然而這過程可能是數秒或數小時，意識仍可能持續運作。

Jack: Technically, doctors announce the time of death according to when the heart stops pumping. No more blood circulates to the brain, but it could be several seconds or even hours that the consciousness continues to work.

Eva: So when the doctor is declaring his or her death, the patient might be able to hear that?
傑柯：是的，而且研究團隊訪問過曾經心臟突然停止的人，他們幾乎都表示曾聽見或看見醫護人員的對話。

Jack: That’s right. The group of researchers even interviewed people who have had their hearts stop before, and almost all of them recall hearing or seeing conversations between the doctors and nurses.
