On November 19, 2021, Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan passed a law making stalking a punishable offense.
於2021年11月19日，臺灣的立法院通過了一項法律，將跟蹤行為定為可處罰的罪行。

Officially called the Stalking and Harassment Prevention Act, the law is aimed at not only protecting individuals’ physical safety, mental health and “personal dignity,” but also the privacy of their information.
這項正式名為《跟蹤騷擾防治法》的法律目的是保護個人的身體安全、心理健康以及「個人尊嚴」，同時也尊重其資訊的隱私。

Under the law, the eight major types of behaviors that constitute stalking and harassment of a victim are defined as:

stalking or tracking them, monitoring them, threatening or insulting them, making unwanted advances toward them, contacting them via phone or electronic devices, spreading slander against them, and misusing their identity or personal information.
跟蹤或追蹤、監視、威脅或侮辱、對其進行不受歡迎的接觸、透過電話或電子裝置聯繫、散布誹謗言論、濫用其身份或個人資訊。

Any of these behaviors done to a victim against their will is a violation of the law.
任何未經受害者同意而進行上述行為者將被視為違反該法律。

Victims that are subjected to stalking or harassment as outlined by the law can file a police report against the offender.
根據法律規定，受到跟蹤或騷擾的受害者可以向警方報案。

The authorities can then begin an investigation into the complaint, which may entail arresting the suspect and detaining them with court approval.

Police can also issue written warnings to a suspect or ask for the “court to issue a protective order for the victim” in the case of harassment by a repeat offender.

In accordance with the law, those found guilty of stalking or harassing victims will “face a jail term of less than one year or a fine of NT$100,000.”

However, possession of “weapons or other dangerous items” by offenders can lead to more severe punishments of up to five years in jail or a fine of NT$500,000.
然而，若罪犯持有「武器或其他危險物品」，則可能面臨更嚴厲的刑罰，最高可判處五年徒刑或新台幣50萬元罰款。
Additionally, offenders that violate official protective orders filed against them may face sentences of 3 years in jail or a fine of NT$300,000.
此外，違反正式保護令者可能面臨三年徒刑或新台幣30萬元罰款。
