Google officials have admitted that the company’s employees can listen to people’s private conversations recorded by Google Assistant, and that one of the workers recently leaked confidential data.

The disclosure came after Belgian public broadcaster VRT NWS revealed that its reporters listened to more than 1,000 conversations recorded by Google Assistant.

According to VRT NWS, one of Google’s contractors who was assigned the task of listening to and transcribing the clips gave the news outlet access to the recordings.
