The number of workers on unpaid leave in Taiwan has hit a three-year high, data released by the Ministry of Labor (MOL) shows.
勞動部公布數據指出，台灣放無薪假的勞工人數已達三年新高。
By the end of 2018, a total of 25 companies had introduced unpaid leave nationwide, affecting 3,521 workers.
截止至去年底，共有25家事業單位通報實施無薪假，影響3千521名勞工。

The MOL attributed the surge in the number of furloughed workers to a large-size automaker introducing an unpaid leave program, although the ministry declined to identify the company.
勞動部指出，放無薪假勞工人數激增主要是因為國內某大型汽車製造商實施無薪假，不過勞動部並未指出是哪家公司。

However, local media reported that the car manufacturer was Kuozui Motors Ltd.

Kuozui had introduced unpaid leave in October and November last year, with each period lasting as long as two weeks. In December, the company reported putting more than 2,000 people on unpaid leave to cope with sagging demands for small cars.
國瑞汽車繼去年10月、11月都曾通報實施無薪假，實施時間長達半個月，12月又再度通報實施無薪假，影響人數多達2千人以上，主因是消化庫存，因應年底小型車需求減少而調整工作時間。
