A group of Australian scientists believe they have found the fastest-growing black hole of the past nine billion years.

The object, named J1144, is approximately 7,000 times brighter than all the light from the Milky Way.

However, so far, researchers have no clue as to why J1144 is so bright and how it became the fastest-growing black hole.

Dr. Christopher Onken, the lead researcher of the team, says the unusual brightness of the quasar might be the result of two massive galaxies colliding, which would have funneled a lot of gas towards the black hole, allowing it to grow quickly.
