On March 13, 2025, Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation revealed plans to update traffic laws to protect pedestrians.

Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai sharply criticized this behavior, saying, “It’s a national shame when pedestrians get hit on crosswalks.”
