Tesla will resume accepting bitcoin payments for its cars when miners of the cryptocurrency use more renewable energy, CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet.

“When there’s confirmation of reasonable (approximately 50%) clean energy usage by miners with positive future trend, Tesla will resume allowing bitcoin transactions,” he said.

Tesla announced in an SEC filing in February that it purchased $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin and said it expected to accept the cryptocurrency for its products in the future.

Musk’s tweet about resuming bitcoin transactions was a response to comments from Magda Wierzycka, CEO of Sygnia Asset Management. Wierzycka said Musk had deliberately pumped up the price of bitcoin so Tesla could sell off a big chunk of it.

“This is inaccurate. Tesla only sold approximately 10% of holdings to confirm bitcoin could be liquidated easily without moving market,” Musk said.
