An open road test might be added to Taiwan’s license exam for scooters, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

Under the current laws, scooter riders only have to pass a written test and a closed-course driving test to obtain a driver’s license.

Directorate General of Highways Deputy Director-General Chang Shun-ching said that a trial of open-road driving courses is expected to be carried out in the first half of next year, and a road test will be included in the license exam if the trial goes well.
