政府損失2.8億元
Premier Chen Chien-jen revealed on March 5 that the government is set to pay NT$280 million to contractors that worked on Taiwan’s suspended digital identification program.
行政院院長陳建仁於3月5日透露，政府將支付新台幣2.8億給參與台灣數位身分證計畫的承包商，目前該計畫已暫停。

The government’s initiative to implement a new system of national digital IDs was originally launched in 2020 by the Executive Yuan.

However, operations related to the development and rollout of the IDs were suspended in January 2021 following the raising of public concerns over the data security of the IDs, according to a TVBS News report.
