Tesla has had a rough year. From problematic production to that footage of Elon Musk smoking legal marijuana, the company has been generating a lot of bad press.

But that might be the least of their concerns — on Wednesday September 12, Chinese electric-vehicle NIO opened on the New York stock exchange with its sights firmly fixed on the California car marker.

The company has only sold 1,600 cars in 2018. But with the backing of some big investors, the likes of Baidu and Tencent, the NIO still has the potential to take on Tesla. Elon Musk will need to step on the accelerator, and fast.
在2018年，目前NIO蔚來汽車僅賣出1,600輛車。但因背後有著強大的投資者，像是百度、騰訊，NIO蔚來汽車還是有跟特斯拉打對台的潛力。馬斯克必須踩下油門，而且要快。
