French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH has made a takeover bid for New York-based jeweler Tiffany & Co. in an attempt to expand further into the jewelry and watch market.

On Monday, Tiffany confirmed that it had received an acquisition proposal from the French luxury goods giant.
