Before he announced his return to politics, Lee Si-kuen, known as the “craziest professor at NTU”, was already popular on campus and online communities as a prominent scholar and a friendly face with a satirical streak.

“Fewer and fewer young people dare to take risks,” he explains. “What Taiwan lacks is a “daring” culture,” a term that Lee equates with being yourself and with a willingness to take risks.
