Ko Wen-je, chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party and former presidential candidate, has been criticized for purchasing a personal office on May 10 near the Legislative Yuan.

According to the Taipei Times, Democratic Progressive Party Taipei City Councilor Lin Yen-feng drew attention to Ko’s purchase on Aug 26.

Responding to reporters’ questions about the purchase, Ko defended himself by saying other political parties commonly allow candidates to buy office space for long-term personal use with election subsidies.
